Zambales Youth leaders actively participate during the Operation Listo WEmboree supported by PD Bactad and Gov. Ebdane

The DILG Region 3 in close coordination with DILG Zambales and the Provincial Government successfully conducted the Operation "Listo" WEmboree held on June 29-30, 2015 at Zambales Sports Complex, Iba, Zambales. The main objective of the activity is to create awareness and intensify the involvement as well as commitment of the youth in response to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. The two-day activity was participated by 66 youth leaders from the 13 municipalities and 1 city in the Province of Zambales.

Governor Hermogenes E. Ebdane, Jr. graced the activity and inspired the participants to become leaders and champions in nation-building. Gov. Ebdane emphasized that we should take only what we need at present and leave the rest to our future generation. DILG Zambales Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V stressed that we should change the mindset from being self-centered to being selfless by raising the value of volunteerism and cooperation before, during, and after disasters and emergencies. Likewise, PD Bactad reminded that everyone has a responsibility especially the youth in attaining a developed and disaster-resilient community.

To release the competitive spirit of the youth, the participants were grouped to Creative Messaging, Response, Recovery and Rehabilitation, and Resource Mobilization wherein they competed in presentation of outputs as well as various disaster-related challenges such as bucket relay and river-crossing.
Cash prizes and tokens were given away by the DILG Regional Office wherein Gov. Ebdane added Php 20,000.00 cash prizes for the break out group presentations.

A grand bonfire highlighted the event wherein the participants burned their negative traits and conveyed their commitments. In response, the governor has pledged his full support to the youth and especially on disaster preparedness activities. The activity concluded with a boodle fight gamely joined by the participants, organizers and guests.
