One of the powers and functions of the Department is to assist the President in his general supervision over local government units, oversee and monitor the implementation of the Local Government Code of 1991, enhance the capabilities of LGU's for self-governance, and implement plans and programs on local autonomy.
ANGELES CITY – The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 3 (DILG R3) conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Fact-Finding Investigation and News Writing Training at Royal Golftel, Angeles City on February 9-11, 2016. The first two (2) days was scheduled for the fact-finding investigation and report writing while the last day was for news writing. It was attended by all provincial and city directors, division chiefs, designated regional/provincial/city legal and information officers, members of the Regional Selection Board, members of the Personnel Discipline Board and members of the Bidding and Awards Committee and other technical staff at the Regional Office. The activity was aimed to provide the participants the knowledge on how to effectively and safely perform a fact-finding investigation and equip them with technical skills in report, news and press release writing.
SW Hotel, Angeles City, January 27-29, 2016- Representatives from member agencies of the Regional Peace and Order Council's Technical Working Group, spearheaded by LG-MED of DILG R3, conducted a three-day seminar-workshop to review the Crime Recording Handbook which was formulated and drafted last September 2015, and discuss the guidelines on how to formulate a Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan and the Anti-dangerous Drugs Communication Plan.
After Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento launched Bottom-Up Budgeting or BuB4Barangays for DILG field officers of Luzon Cluster, he again led the roll-out of the said program for both Visayas and Mindanao Clusters. The activity, with the theme "Heightening the BuB at the Grassroots Level" started on February 8 until February 11, 2016 for Visayas group and February 11-14, 2016 for Mindanao group both at Travelers Hotel, Subic.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government, Region III developed a 5-day training program coined as Local Excellence in Voluntary, Empowered, Lasting and Unparalleled Participation of CSOs, this capacity development program for civil society organizations is intended for 5 Local Government Units (LGUs) in Central Luzon who enrolled the program under Bottom-up Budgeting F.Y. 2015. The activity started on February 1 until February 5, 2016 at Subic Bay Peninsular Hotel, Subic Bay Free Port Zone.
