Tarlac City, Tarlac – The City Government of Tarlac anchored with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to continuously protect the environment and preserve the rich lands of the city from flooding and soil degradation, have successfully conducted a Tree Planting Activity on August 1 at Armenia Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), Brgy. Armenia, Tarlac City, which is also a remarkable event in commemoration of the city's Arbor Day for 2017.


In essence, the activity is pursuant to Republic Act 10176 otherwise known as the Arbor Day Act of 2012. The act mandates all local government units to revive and observe, as an annual event, the tree-planting day and organize other environmental activities that shall promote and encourage the planting and caring for trees and our environment in the advancement of the right of people to a balanced and healthful ecology, with the participation of various sectors in the society.

Further, this year's Arbor Day Celebration aptly themed as, "Plant and Nurture Trees", was realized by virtue of the City Ordinance No. 008-14. Said undertaking has gathered various officials, employees and representatives from the City & Provincial Government of Tarlac, National Government Agencies (DILG, DEPED, PNP, BFP, 3rd Mechanized Infantry Batallion and NOLCOM), Non-Government Organizations (Save the Earth Movement, Federation of Senior Citizens of the Philippines Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers, Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers and Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers), Punong Barangays (Brgy. Armenia, San Luis and San Jose de Urquico) and other members of the private sector (One Tarlac Inc. and SM City Tarlac).
In sum, there were 1,575 mahogany seedlings planted within the six (6) hectares lot in Armenia MRF.
Expectedly, these seedlings will beautify and further nurture the surroundings thereat.
