Barangay Kalaklan, Olongapo City bagged the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Award (LTIA)-Highly Urbanized City Category for the 2nd, consecutive time on November 2 at Quest Hotel and Conference Center, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.


Punong Barangay William R. Umali, and four members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa, received a plaque and cash prize of 50,000 pesos awarded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government –Region III headed by Regional Director Julie J. Daquioag.

Also present on stage during the awarding were DILG Assistant Regional Director Araceli A. San Jose, City Director Amada T. Dumagat and Local Government Operations Officer VI Melissa D. Nipal.

Kalaklan also received the same award last year. According to PB. Umali, their commitment and dedication is not the only ingredient for their success in the implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay. "The knowledge of the Lupon on the KP, and our innovative system of monitoring and evaluating cases or disputes are the secrets of our Barangay," he said.

The LTIA was established pursuant to Section 406 (b) of the Local Government Code of 1991 mandating the DILG to grant economic and other incentive awards to Lupong Tagapamayapa for their outstanding contributions and in attaining the objectives of Katarungang Pambarangay and exemplary performance in settling disputes.
