In support with the battle cry of the current administration, with the vision of uniting the Bulakeños against illegal drugs, the DILG Bulacan on January 12, 2017 held a MASA MASID orientation participated by the MASA MASID Technical Working Group from the 25 Local Government Units in the Province including its Provincial, City and Municipal Government; Interfaith Organizations and Civil Society Organizations within Bulacan also participated.
MASA MASID or Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa illegal na droga is a community-based initiative to engage volunteers in the fight against criminality, corruption and illegal drugs.
Provincial Director, Darwin D. David in his Welcome Remarks stressed out the sad truth that the stigma and discrimination are only two of the common hindrances a drug dependent person is facing that hinder him to commit to a total change, having said that he suggested that MASA MASID could be an eye opener that these individuals may still be rehabilitated as productive members of the community.
MASA MASID is a consolidated action program of the Government, based on various laws and the pronouncement of the President himself. It could be remembered that from the first month the president has been seated millions of drug dependent individuals have surrendered themselves which has gathered different responses from the surrenders, to standardize such process and to ensure intervention the MASA MASID was formulated, said LGOOVI Imelda C. Magat.
Said program has three (3) implementation strategies including Advocacy and Education Campaigns, Information Gathering and Reporting and Community-Based Rehabilitation Program. Playing a vital role in these strategies, Interfaith Organizations, Civil Society Organizations and the MASA MASID technical Working Group, was scrupulously oriented by LGOO VI Lydia M. Baltazar of their roles and responsibilities.
