In an effort to strengthen file security and data protection measures as well as manage data breaches and cybersecurity threats in the digital workplace, DILG Region 3 initiated the hybrid conduct of Securing Access to Files and Ensuring Data Protection (SAFE) training on March 6, 2026, at DILG Region 3, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. It was participated in by Provincial/City Directors, Program Managers, Division Chiefs, Assistant Division Chiefs, Legal Officers, HRM Officer, Records Officer, Regional Office Senior Staff, Regional Information and Communications Technology Unit (RICTU) personnel, and Provincial/HUC Information System Analysts (ISAs) and other regional and field office staff who joined via Zoom platform.
The activity was aimed to promote the awareness at the same time require compliance of the regional and field offices with data protection and file security standards. More importantly, learnings from the training will serve as invaluable inputs in crafting a regional policy on file security and data protection for regionwide implementation.
Regional Director Araceli A. San Jose, in her opening message, stated that as information continues to be a critical asset in achieving our mandates, strengthening our file security protocols and data protection practices remains a priority. She added that securing and protecting data is no longer just an IT function but a shared duty that involves each and everyone in the organization. She further urged the support and commitment of everyone to making security a shared responsibility.
Resource speakers from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 3, composed of Planning Officer Domingo Chico, Jr., and Project Development Officer Aira Camille M. Alquero. Key topics discussed include Data Security, File Management Best Practices, Safe Internet and Email Usage, and Workplace Data Security Protocols.
The Regional Management strongly encourages all personnel to be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding files and data, recognizing that information security is a shared responsibility in the organization.
