To enhance the capacity of LGUs to fulfill their roles more effectively, particularly in light of the upcoming annual audits, DILG Bataan held a re-orientation session for the inter-agency monitoring task force (IMTF) members of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking – Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) on April 4, 2023 via Zoom.

Spearheaded by PD Belina T. Herman, CESO V, the online event aimed to strengthen the LGUs' capacity to address the challenges facing children and women, and ultimately, create safer and more protective communities.

During the session, LGOO II Michelle F. Samson provided a comprehensive overview of the guidelines for the establishment, strengthening, and monitoring of LCPC and LCAT-VAWC. The participants, including OIC-Cluster Team Leader Mildred Sazon, DILG field officers and LCPC & LCAT-VAWC IMTF members in all LGUs of Bataan, gained insights into assessment forms, technical notes, and timelines of the assessments.

The LCPC is responsible for promoting the rights of children and protecting their welfare within the LGUs, while LCAT-VAWC is a mechanism established to coordinate and monitor the implementation of Republic Act No. 9208 and Republic Act No. 9262. Both units are critical in addressing the prevalence of violence, exploitation, and abuse against vulnerable sectors in the community.
