The launch was held in Barangay Pita on March 3, 2023, which was selected as the showcase barangay of the Halina't Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) sa Barangay Community Garden Project.
The event was lead by MLGOO Cristy Blanco, Punong Barangay Rolando Romano and barangay officials of Pita. DILG Bataan Provincial Director Belina T. Herman, Cluster Team Leader Mildred Sazon, LGOO V Laverne Gonzales, Jr., farmers' association officers and members also participated in the activity.
The launch was also graced by other officials, including SB Member Elizarde Torno, Mr. Danilo Dela Cruz (representative of Cong. Gila Garcia) and JSINP Abraham Lazaro (Jail Warden of Dinalupihan Municipal Jail).
Following the opening ceremony, the attendees planted tomato seedlings in the established community garden of the barangay. This activity promoted community involvement and shared responsibility for the project, embodying the HAPAG spirit, which means "table in the community." Through gardening and the sharing of food, the community was brought together.
The HAPAG Community Garden Project was initiated by the national government to address the threat in food security and high prices of basic commodities. By encouraging residents to cultivate their own produce in community gardens, this project advocates for sustainable living practices.
