Baler, Aurora | March 28, 2026 - Barangay Pingit served as Aurora’s Provincial Showcase Barangay during the conduct of the 1st Semester CY 2026 Barangay Assembly Day, participated in by the DILG Aurora, local officials, partner agencies, and community members.
The activity highlighted the Barangay Assembly as a vital platform for transparency, accountability, and citizen participation, where constituents were updated on the barangay’s accomplishments, ongoing and upcoming projects, and priority concerns.
During the activity, messages of support were conveyed by representatives from the 1st Aurora Provincial Mobile Force Company (APMFC)and the Baler Chief of Police (COP). In her message, MLGOO Melody E. Valdez highlighted the role of the Barangay Assembly as a key mechanism for transparency and accountability, emphasizing that active community involvement is essential to responsive and effective local governance. Meanwhile, DILG Aurora Provincial Director Ener P. Cambronero underscored the need for community cooperation and energy conservation, particularly in light of growing concerns over the country’s energy situation.
A key highlight of the assembly was the State of the Barangay Address of Punong Barangay Mylene Novicio, who presented updates on programs and initiatives for the barangay - infrastructure and safety projects such as streetlights, CCTV cameras, and early warning devices, as well as concerns on unpaved roads, solid waste management, and plans for a proposed evacuation center through the barangay’s development fund. Updates were likewise presented on programs for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), Gender and Development (GAD), senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), as well as barangay initiatives promoting cleanliness and community participation.
The assembly also provided a venue to discuss key governance matters such as the Barangay Full Disclosure Policy (BFDP), People’s Law Enforcement Board (PLEB), and Katarungang Pambarangay, followed by an open forum where residents were able to raise concerns and share suggestions.
As Aurora’s Provincial Showcase Barangay Assembly for the first semester of CY 2026, Barangay Pingit demonstrated its commitment to good governance, active citizen engagement, and inclusive community development.
