The DILG Aurora through its Local Governance Resource Center “Tambuli” successfully conducted the third installment of its webinar series under “Kabarangay, Handa Ka Ba?” Preparedness and Resiliency Enhancement: Promoting Accurate Response during Emergency (PREPARE) Program.


Held via zoom and streamed live on DILG Aurora FB Page, Episode 3 of PREPARE titled, “Safety Begins With You – Protecting Lives on the Road and in Fire Emergencies”, emphasized the critical role of every individual in preventing vehicular accidents and fire incidents, especially at the barangay level. The webinar gathered participation of about 400 barangay officials, M/BDRRMCs, youth, drivers, and community fire auxiliary groups from the provinces of Aurora and Camarines Norte.


Resource persons from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) shared their valuable knowledge and expertise, which made the activity more meaningful and informative. Mr. Michael A. Manalili of LTO Baler delivered an insightful discussion on traffic signs, signals and road markings, safety driving rules, and the importance of traffic regulations in preventing accidents. Meanwhile, FO3 Jane Grace T. Basa and FO2 Bryan A. Cayat of the BFP Aurora shared practical fire prevention tips, proper emergency response, and highlighted the essential roles of households and communities in mitigating fire risks.


As the Vice-Chair of Disaster Preparedness, the DILG is committed to fostering communities that are safer and more resilient. Through this activity, the DILG Aurora is taking pro-active approach to disaster preparedness by raising awareness and recognizing that disasters such as vehicular accidents and fire emergencies pose substantial risks to lives, well-being, and socio-economic development of the people.
