04 April 2025 – The DILG Aurora Provincial Office in partnership with the DENR - Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) Regional Office III, conducted an ecological solid waste discussion, entitled “Trash Talk: Discovering Sustainable and Eco-Friendly SWM” via Zoom Online Platform.

Ms. Diozelle L. Cabalar, Senior Environmental Management Specialist (SEMS) of EMB-R3, discussed the Republic Act 9003 or “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2003”, highlighting waste management, creation of institutional mechanisms and incentives and the prohibited acts and penalties covered by the said policy.
Moreover, SEMS Cabalar emphasized the role of the LGUs on the evaluation of alternative roles for the public and private sectors in the collection services and systems thereof, involving households, institutional, industrial, commercial and agricultural sources, impacting the simplification of barangay’s waste management tasks and considerably be cost effective.

The activity targeted the technical team of DILG Aurora including the DILG Field Officers and attended by MENROs, and Barangay Officials in the Province of Aurora.
Lastly, she included in her discussion related policies such as the RA 11898 or the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022, NSWMC Resolutions Nos. 1363 s. 2020 and 1428 s. 2021 that bans the use unnecessary single-use plastics and the declaration non-environmentally acceptable products such as plastic straws and stirrers.
The said activity accommodated participants from other neighboring provinces and regions, constituting a total of 209 participants.
