Baler, Aurora, Philippines – March 28, 2025 – The DILG Aurora, in collaboration with the DILG Central Luzon Legal Services Unit, successfully capacitated more than nine hundred (900) Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) practitioners and stakeholders from across the Philippines through a comprehensive Skill Enhancement Training on KP’s jurisdictional aspects.

The activity titled Focusing the Lens: KP within its Jurisdiction aims to continually upscale the administration of the Barangay Justice System by reinforcing the understanding of the participants about the elements that should be established to determine the lupon’s authority over a case.

According to Dir. Ener Cambronero, Provincial Director of DILG Aurora, this initiative is an essential step in enhancing the capacity and knowledge of stakeholders to better serve their communities. “Ang dedikasyon ninyo (mga Lupon members) at pagmamalasakit sa komunidad ay lubos na kinikilala at pinapahalagahan namin,” he remarked.

Atty. Jane Blessilda F. Bulaong, Attorney III, Assistant Legal Officer of DILG Central Luzon, provided valuable insights on specific cases that are within the Lupon’s authority to settle, particularly crimes under the revised penal code.

The activity was attended by M/LGOOs, Punong Barangays, Barangay Secretaries, and Lupon Members, from various BLGUs throughout the Philippines, as well as the PNP Personnel from the Provincial and different Municipal Police Stations of Aurora.

This training marks a continued effort to further elevate the Barangay Justice System and ensure the smooth operation of KP in resolving disputes within local communities.
