To strengthen the capacity of Local Government Units (LGUs) towards mitigating the adverse impacts of disasters, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales headed by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V facilitated the conduct of Provincial Convergence and Disaster Resilient Dialogue on January 22, 2019 at the Zambales Training and Conference Center, Iba, Zambales.

The activity is in line with the Operation “Listo”, a DILG initiated advocacy program in strengthening capacities of LGUs for disasters using the whole government approach for disaster preparedness, where a Disaster Preparedness Manual was developed to guide LGUs’ actions to be able to usher the preparedness of their communities in the event that natural hazards occur.

“Ang ating kahandaan ay dapat laging nasa puso at isip natin kasi ang pinakaimportante ay ang kaligtasan ng lahat at walang mapapahamak kung lahat tayo ay magtutulungan”, said PD Bactad.

The activity was attended by the following local functionaries from the 13 Municipalities of Zambales, Provincial Government of Zambales and Olongapo City: Planning and Development Coordinator, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, Social Welfare and Development Officer, Chief of Police headed by Zambales Police Provincial Director PSSUPT. Felix A. Verbo, Jr., Fire Marshall headed by Provincial Director FSUPT Genesis F. Morrondoz. It was also attended by Hon. Jun Rundstedt C. Ebdane, Municipal Mayor of Iba and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales and Olongapo City field officers and staff.

LGOO III Maria Clarissa Dimatulac of DILG Olongapo City presented the overview of the activity while DRR-CCA Alternate Focal Person LGOO VI Rosalinda T. Sarmiento of DILG Zambales discussed the Operation L!sto Version 3.0 and the overview of the Quality Assurance System for Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Plan.

The activity also successfully served as the venue for the local functionaries to pledge of commitment in support to the protocols of Operation L!sto v3.0.
