The Municipality of Subic in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and Philippine National Police conducted a “Drug Awareness and Barangay Drug Clearing Seminar” for the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADAC) of Subic, Zambales on April 4, 2018 at the Senior Citizens’ Building, Wawandue, Subic. The activity was anchored on strengthening the roles, functions, duties and responsibilities of BADACs in ensuring a drug free community and broadens their awareness on the present drug situation of the barangays.

LGOO VI Sheryl Ann Q. Dungca emphasized that the barangays, particularly the BADACs, play a vital role in the continuous campaign on illegal drugs. The efforts of the barangays in the surrender and identification of drug personalities should not be wasted, thus, there is a need to strengthen the functionality and capability of the barangay in the documentation and processing of barangay drug clearing. “Every step, no matter how small, will lead us closer to our goals”, she said.

Guest resource speaker, Mr. Glenn M. Guillermo of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region III, shared his expertise on drug awareness and process of drug clearing. “Being drug cleared is not a status symbol, it is a responsibility”, he said. Hon. Elizalde G. Rocafor, Chair of the Peace and Order Committee, and Subic Chief of Police were also present to give support and guidance to the BADACs.
