The City Government of San Fernando prepares for the arrival of foreign tourists who are scheduled to visit the City on December in time for the Giant Lantern Festival (GLF).

This year’s Giant Lantern Festival led by the committee chairman Engr. Mariano Castro announced earlier that this year’s GLF will host more foreigners, especially those coming from our Asian neighbors.

With the committee’s initiative and with the support of the local Tourism and Investment Promotion Office, 15 tourists from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam were hosted by the City and were given a guided tour around the heritage district on November 15.

Aside from a free “kalesa ride” experience, the tourists were also given a chance to see for themselves a lantern-making demonstration.  “If only we’ll have a chance again to be back, we will do so” a Thai travel agency operator said.  “It’s more fun in the Philippines” and much more, “It’s more fun in San Fernando, Pampanga,” he added.

The tourists, who are also prospective buyers of GLF tour packages for the December 14 festival, also enjoyed the Kapampangan dishes of Everybody’s Café before the tour ended.
