After the successful launch of the Ugnayan ng mga Barangay at Simbahan (UBAS) in the province, DILG Nueva Ecija has been actively involving the participation of the church in different activities that promote transparency and participation in governance. The conduct of the Synchronized Barangay Assembly Day (SBAD) set by DILG MC 2015-24 on March 28, 2015, is indeed another venue for the inter-faith groups to exercise the goal of UBAS.
Provincial Director and concurrent Assistant Regional Director Abraham Pascua, through communications to church leaders, have enjoined church representatives to attend Barangay Assemblies in their respective areas.
This semester’s provincial showcase, Brgy. Bertese in Quezon, Nueva Ecija, was attended by around 300 people from the different sectors of the community. Also present in the activity are DILG personnel headed by ARD Abraham Pascua, Honorable Mayor Mariano Noriel Joson, and members of the PNP and BFP.
The activity highlighted the on-going construction of their Bottom-up Budgeting project from SALINTUBIG program of the DILG. The said project will be benefitting residents of the barangays and nearby villages of access to potable water once completed. The Barangay Bertese SALINTUBIG cost totals to 9.3 million pesos.
ARD Pascua, in his speech, recognized the Barangay Bertese as one of the most capable barangays to be the provincial showcase and also to receive, maintain the DILG funded project. He also acknowledged the presence of the inter-faith groups and sent his appreciation for their strong support to the cause of UBAS.
