Officers and staff of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Nueva Ecija headed by ARD/PD Abraham A. Pascua led the massive clean-up drive under the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Project (MBCURP). The activity, attended by about 70 elected local officials and residents of the said Barangay was held on February 24, 2015.
Before the actual clean-up, a short program was held in the gymnasium of Brgy. Bucot which started at 6:00 in the morning. The MLGOO of Aliaga, Fortunato M. Abraham III, discussed the significance of the regular conduct of the rehabilitation project which aims to restore and preserve the innate beauty of the Manila Bay and all other waterways, rivers and creeks that are interconnected to it.
Mayor Elizabeth R. Vargas takes pride in their Ecological Center located in Brgy. Santiago which converts wastes into organic fertilizers and blocks. She motivated the local residents to become more responsible in segregating and throwing their trash in the proper garbage disposal units and encouraged them to start cleaning their own backyards. Twenty nine (29) sacks of garbage were collected during the said clean-up.
