“Ano’ng ginagawa mo para sa Bayan?”—this is the opening spiel of “Magtulungan Tayo”, a gender-responsive public affairs radio program under the Office of the Provincial Governor that promotes gender equality for happy family and safe community, showcasing the dictum: Respeto at Bayanihan sa Nueva Ecija, aired live over DWNE 900 kHz every Friday, 8:00-10:00 AM.
Kapihan sa Plaza Leticia went live on air on August 10, 2012 sponsored by Ms. Leticia Sy Uy of NE Group of Companies, as a special edition of Magtulungan Tayo, which featured the Assessment on the Effects of Southwest Monsoon Rains (Habagat) and typhoon “Gener”, guesting the National Food Authority (NFA), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), various departments of the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)). Freshest and most accurate monitoring reports were extracted from the representatives of each guest agency through dynamic discussions revved up by the program hosts Ms. Sonia Capio and Mr. Jun Garcia.
DILG Nueva Ecija Provincial Director Dr. Abraham A. Pascua, in his concurrent capacity as the Assistant Regional Director and being the co-chairman of Nueva Ecija Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), gave his comprehensive assessment of the latest situation in the province and even in the neighboring provinces, commending all Novo Ecijanos for showing their remarkable spirits in the midst of trials and confusion brought by disaster risks, who, with “Magtulungan Tayo”, he called “MGA BAYANING ISINILANG NG KALAMIDAD”.
The scope of interventions of the concerned agencies was among those elaborately tackled, from suspension of school classes and government work to validation of damages that disasters bring forth, informing the listeners of how National Government Agencies and Local Government Units as major stakeholders function in symmetry at times of disasters.
Kapihan sa Plaza Leticia wrapped up with words of hope, for better disaster resiliency not only for Nueva Ecija but for the rest of the world.
