DILG Undersecretary Francisco “Bimbo” Fernandez, who has the responsibility over informal settlers and other special concerns, visited the 6th batch of the LSP seminar-workshop on its 3rd day. In his message, he talked about the Local Government Code and Urban Development and Housing Act (UDHA) which was passed on 1991 and 1992, respectively. Because of these, housing became the primary responsibility of LGUs but unfortunately it had been neglected. He also said that the LGUs should be thankful because of the dedication of late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo who started the implementation of its provisions. He also expressed his gratitude to the mandamus agencies together with the key shelter agencies for helping the LGUs in giving technical assistance to provide safe, decent and affordable housing accessible to the beneficiaries.
