ANGELES CITY – In order to capacitate the LGUs in meeting local emergencies arising from natural and man-made disasters, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) R3 conducted an orientation-workshop on Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) on December 1-3, 2016 with participants from selected Local Government Units (LGUs) from the provinces of Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga and Tarlac.


This activity aims to provide assistance to LGUs in integrating Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Change Adaptive measures/initiatives in the preparation of their Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP).

In her opening remarks, MED Chief Lerrie S. Hernandez emphasized the importance of CDRA in formulating various plan. "With this new development and method of integrating the CDRA process in formulating your CDP, Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) and Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (LDRRMP) will lead to the identification of more effective and efficient adaptation/mitigation measures and policy interventions," MED Chief Hernandez said.
During the three-day activity, the participants went through various discussions, workshops and output presentations of the CDRA process to familiarize them with the formulation of the assessment and their Plans.

This activity is just the first of the series of workshops lined up for CDRA before the end of 2016.
