ANGELES CITY – The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 3 (DILG R3) conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Fact-Finding Investigation and News Writing Training at Royal Golftel, Angeles City on February 9-11, 2016. The first two (2) days was scheduled for the fact-finding investigation and report writing while the last day was for news writing. It was attended by all provincial and city directors, division chiefs, designated regional/provincial/city legal and information officers, members of the Regional Selection Board, members of the Personnel Discipline Board and members of the Bidding and Awards Committee and other technical staff at the Regional Office.
The activity was aimed to provide the participants the knowledge on how to effectively and safely perform a fact-finding investigation and equip them with technical skills in report, news and press release writing.

DILG R3 Director Florida Dijan said that there should be a Technical Working Group (TWG) who will look after the cases which are filed before the Office and which need fact finding investigation. She also enjoined the participants to re-echo to fieldmen in the Provincial/City conferences their learnings gained in the training particularly on the fact-finding process.

National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) R3 Director Fay Amparo Sinocruz and Research and Analysis Division Chief Plormelinda P. Olet served as the resource speakers during the fact-finding investigation seminar.

Among the topics discussed include information gathering processes and methods, information evaluation and basic report writing. A workshop was also facilitated where participants who were asked to simulate as investigators and sources were given different cases which were subjected to fact finding investigation. Presentation of outputs and critiquing were also done.

On the third day, Bataan Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Manager Jose Mari Garcia presented tools and strategies on effective information dissemination and program advocacy. Specifically, he discussed topics on how to prepare a news release, press release, create good photos and write photo captions. He also shared tips on how to get more likes on various social media accounts by way of posting interesting photos, announcements, pictures of events and infographics. In order to apply the learnings, participants had a workshop in writing a news article.
