The DILG, as the Vice Chair in Disaster Preparedness, joined in the conduct of the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on November 9, 2023 at Barangay Esteves, Casiguran, Aurora.

 The Municipality of Casiguran, Aurora was chosen as the ceremonial site for NSED by the Office of the Civil Defense to showcase the capacity of the LGU and the community alike in earthquake and tsunami preparedness and in responding to emergencies and incidents.

Representing the SILG Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr., PD Ener P. Cambronero of the DILG Aurora delivered his message during the activity. He emphasized the Department's commitment to accelerate the efforts to strengthen the barangays' preparedness in responding to disasters and other emergencies to minimize casualties and loss of property.

In SILG Abalos' message, he encouraged everyone and said, "Patuloy po ang mga pagsasanay upang mas maging handa ang ating mga pamayanan sa panahon ng kalamidad. Huwag po tayong tumigil na tumuklas ng mga pamamaraan upang mas lalo pa nating maihanda ang ating mga kababayan sa panganib."

LGOO VI Florenz Zaira B. Buenconsejo, Provincial DRRM Focal Person, also served as one of the evaluators in the earthquake drill.
