Olongapo City is taking a significant stride towards achieving the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by facilitating the 2023 SGLG City Orientation and Audit. Initiated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government - Olongapo City (DILG-OC), the activity aimed to identify areas for improvement and ensure full compliance with the updated SGLG criteria ahead of the actual validation.

On May 5, 2023, DILG-OC, led by OIC-City Director Fortunato M. Abraham III, oriented local government officials and key stakeholders on the 2023 SGLG guidelines. The orientation reiterated the program's purpose and presented the indicators and requirements to pass the SGLG.

Following the orientation, DILG-OC conducted a comprehensive four-day assessment from May 8-11, 2023, to evaluate Olongapo City's performance across the different local governance areas. The assessment involved on-site validation and document review, closely mirroring the actual evaluation process.

The five-day orientation and audit concluded with the presentation of the findings and recommendations of DILG-OC. Director Abraham urged the city government's SGLG team to remain steadfast in pursuit of the SGLG as a testament to Olongapo City's commitment to "Transparency and Good Governance."
