The Manila Bay Core Group convened on May 5, 2023 for its regular monitoring and discussion of the respective agencies' accomplishments relating to the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Program (MBCRPP).

Armed with their respective updates on activities and accomplishments from the preceding quarter, the mandamus agencies provided reports on their programs relating to MBCRPP which includes water quality monitoring, dredging of waterways leading to the Bay, updating of LGUs' 10-year Solid Waste Management Plans, total available socialized housing projects across the region and updates on the annual Local Government Unit Compliance Assessment (LGU CA).

Among the significant updates of the meeting are the available resettlement sites and status of relocation for informal settler families affected by the program. The newly-built site located in San Pablo 2nd, Lubao has a total of 1,000 units while the resettlement sites in Mariveles, San Ildefonso and Tarlac have partially unallocated units of 107, 781 and 569 respectively. The National Housing Authority further stated that all remaining units are targeted to be allocated by the end of this year, in line with the management of informal settler families which is a key outcome area of the program.

DILG, through the MBCRP Program Management Team, concluded the meeting by gathering the inputs from the NGA representatives with regards to the indicators of the LGU CA, an annual assessment conducted to monitor the level of compliance of LGUs to MBCRPP. This is in preparation for the upcoming recalibration of the LGU CA tool which shall be in effect for the next three years once approved by the National Inter-Agency Committee.

The core group is composed of the Manila Bay mandamus agencies namely DILG, DENR, EMB, DPWH, NHA, BFAR, DHSUD, DOH and PIA.
