Pushing for strengthened disaster preparedness on the grassroots-level, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 3 in collaboration with Office of Civil Defense Region 3 and Save the Children Philippines facilitated the Training on Quality Assurance System: Review of Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan on November 19-20, 2018 at Subic Bay Peninsular Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City.

The 2-day training was participated by Local DRRM Officers, Local Planning and Development Coordinators and DILG Field Officers of twenty-five (25) LGUs of Bulacan including the Provincial Government.

"This is the right time to assess the quality of BDRRM Plans as we are aiming for zero casualty in every disaster that reaches our country" cited by Lerrie S. Hernandez, LG-MED Division Chief. Further, the review could be one of the essential indicators of Barangay Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) so we must ensure its correctness, she added.

OCD R3 representative Ms. Rosalia Fabrigar presented related NDRRMC Memorandum Circulars while Ms. Xyla Ortinero of Save the Children Philippines guided the participants on the processes of the Quality Assessment Tool.

The remaining provinces in Region III will also be subjected to the same training on December 3, 2018 and December 4, 2018 for the 2nd and 3rd batch, respectively.
