A strengthened and more efficient governance at the grassroots level is what the President expects from the new set of barangay officials as told by DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño to the 4,000 barangay officials of Pampanga during the first Barangay Summit in the province on August 9, 2018 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

As the guest of honor, Usec. Diño imparted the importance of barangay governance in the realization of the major thrusts of the national government for they are the first line of defense at the grassroots level.

"Hindi natin makakamtan ang pagbabago, kung hindi lalahok at kikilos ang mga barangay," USEC. Diño added.

Governor Lilia G. Pineda, in her message, challenged the new set of barangay leaders to promote dynamism in the implementation of various programs for the Capampangans.

"Kailangan marami kayong maipakitang accomplishments. Nasa kamay ninyo ang ikabubuti ng inyong mga nasasakupan. At kailangang ipagpatuloy ninyo ang pag – aalaga sa ating mga barangay", Gov. Pineda said.

The said activity is one of best practices of the Provincial Government of Pampanga that aims to uphold better public service through interaction with the various sector in the society.

Present also during the summit were DILG-3 Regional Director Julie J. Daquioag, OCD-3 Regional Director Marlou L. Salazar, PNP-PPO PSSupt. Nicolas S. Salvador, DILG Pampanga Provincial Director Myrvi A. Fabia, from DOH Pampanga Dr. Amelito S. Nicolas, MD, MPH, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members, City/Municipal Mayors, Provincial Government Department Heads headed by Atty. Andres S. Pangilinan Jr., DILG C/MLGOOs, Chiefs of Police and C/MDRRMOs.
