In order to capacitate its employees in providing medical aid to a person in an emergency medical situation, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Region 3 in collaboration with the Department of Health conducted the Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for DILG-R3 Personnel on July 26-27, 2018 at DILG R3 Conference Room, DMGC, Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

DILG R3 Regional Director Julie J. Daquiaog emphasized the importance of BLS techniques which can be used on people experiencing cardiac arrest or respiratory failure. The enthusiastic director highlighted that the knowledge and skills acquired in the training can be the difference between a life and death situation not just for us but also to other people who are suffering life threatening medical emergency.
MED Chief Lerrie S. Hernandez cited that understanding BLS and practicing these techniques is by far the most challenging task confronting first aid. Chief Hernandez cited that some of the employees will be part of the Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (AVLS) training which is a diagnostic system and procedures to stabilize the patient.
The training module encompasses pre and post written examination, lectures, and practical exam.
