DILG-3 Regional Information Officer Miriam P. Gaviola shared the Department’s preparations, in coordination with other government agencies, in anticipation of North Korea’s rocket testing in an interview at CLTV 36’s “So To Speak” hosted by Ms. Sonia Soto, which was aired on April 14, 2012, 7:30 pm.

“So To Speak” is a program of CLTV 36 which tackles current issues that affects the lives of the people of Region III.  It also aims to empower people through information coming from people with knowledge and authority on the current issue at hand.

In line with the awareness campaign for the Manila Bay Clean Up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Project, Monitoring and Evaluation Division OIC Chief Lerrie S. Hernandez was interviewed in the two major shows of CLTV 36 , Focus with Jun Lutero and Hamon Central Luzon with Tonette Orejas on October 14 and 15, 2011, respectively.

In both programs, Ms. Hernandez was able to impart to the viewers what is the project all about and the reasons why Supreme Court ordered the ten Mandamus agencies to clean, rehabilitate and preserve Manila Bay. The roles of the LGUs within the Manila Bay Area were also discussed as well as the need for their participation in the massive cleaning of the major and minor river system, waterways, esteros and creek that eventually drain their water into the Manila Bay.

Even the crucial roles of the residents living beside the said river systems and waterways were also laid down for them to understand not only the danger it may cause to their lives and properties but the negative impact of environmental degradation in general.

In the said TV guestings, Ms. Hernandez urged the public to campaign and take part in the implementation of the Manila Bay Clean Up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Project in their own little way.

 

DILG-3 Regional Director Florida M. Dijan shared the Department’s promotion and advocacy of transparency and accountability in local governance during a live interview at CLTV 36’s “Dayalogo” on February 7, 2012, 7:30 pm.

“Dayalogo” is a new program of CLTV 36 which serves as a venue to air affected sectors’ issues, concerns and suggestions to Local Government Units, National Government Agencies and other groups. It also aims to strengthen the partnership and unity between the governing and the governed.

The Provincial Government of Bulacan, in coordination with the Diocese of Malolos and the Department of the Interior and Local Government has conducted a Forum on Good Governance and Recognition to the winners of “Programang Bantay Kalinisan ng Bulacan”, held on February 2, 2012 at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, City of Malolos, Bulacan.

DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, who was one of the Guest Speakers, discussed the Seal of Good Housekeeping/Good Governance. He also mentioned that aside from the Seal of Good Housekeeping, the Department plans to launch the Seal of Disaster Preparedness. The Secretary further applauded the province for having been conferred as “Seal” recipients on the 2nd and 3rd round of SGH assessment.

Subsequent to the speech of the SILG, Reverend Father Carmelo Diola delivered his homily with the theme “ Good Governance and Ethics in Politics”. He focused his homily in affirming each other’s role as “public servants” particularly the elected officials. He also mentioned about St. Thomas Moore who is the patron saint of politicians.

The activity aimed to encourage all the elected officials of the province of Bulacan to unite and intensify their dedication in maintaining a clean and green province as well as to enhance their awareness on proper norms and etiquette towards work.

The said forum was participated in by more or less 3,000 individuals from all over the province to include government employees and elected officials spearheaded by Provincial Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Vice Governor Daniel Fernando and Most Reverend Father Jose F. Oliveros. Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian of Valenzuela City also attended the event since the aforesaid city is also a part of the Diocese of Bulacan. Priests and nuns from the Commission of Formation, City and Municipal Mayors, Vice-Mayors, Councilors and Barangay Officials, City/Municipal Natural Environment and Natural Resources Officers, DILG Regional Director Florida M. Dijan and Provincial Director Myra B. Moral together with all the C/MLGOOs and provincial staff, officials and employees of the PNP and BJMP, MEDIA and students from Bulacan State University, also joined the momentous event.

Dr. Sofio Quintana, Technical Director of Forestry Management System, DENR R3 discussed Good Governance on Environment. He gave emphasis on the compliance to the provisions of RA 9003 otherwise known as the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000”. Consequently, awarding to the winners of the “Programang Bantay Kalinisan ng Bulacan” was conferred to the following winners:

The winners received cash incentives and plaque of appreciation in recognition of their dedication and commitment in maintaining a clean and green environment.

Proclamation No. 260, dated September 30, 2011, issued by President Benigno S. Aquino III, declares that the last Saturday of March and the second Sunday of October 2011, and every year thereafter as Barangay Assembly Days.

This year, the Barangay Assembly Day for the first semester of CY 2012 is set on March 31, 2012 as stated in Memorandum Circular No. 2012-29, dated February 10, 2012, issued by DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo.
