The City Government of the Angeles City, in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government conducted Orientation on the Roll-Out Strategies of Operation Listo last April 21, 2015, at 3rd Floor Justice Hall Building City Hall Compound. The event was attended by City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the 33 Punong Barangays and Civil Society Organizations. Monitoring and Evaluation Division Chief Lerrie Hernandez delivered her opening message and highlighted the importance of being "Listo".
City Director Belina T. Herman discussed the Rationale of the LGU Disaster Preparedness Manual and its objectives. " The Manual is a complete agenda of primary planning for local government units to have a systematic and accurate course of action, with aligned and improved local plans and preparations prior to or during a catastrophe', she said.
"Project Listo demonstrates the Department's proactive role in coming up with a set of interventions to ensure preparedness of local communities in times of disaster. The Disaster Preparedness Manual is a product of a series of consultations and researches on historical data and experiences from the past disasters that hit the country", she added.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Francis M. Pangilinan discussed the state of disaster preparedness of the city and the Checklist of Early Preparedness and Minimum Critical Preparations for Mayors. LGOO V Luz M. Madlangbayan discussed the roles of C/MLGOO during Disaster and the Disaster Preparedness Checklist for MLGOOs. P/Supt. Roger Tomen discussed the PNP roles and the checklist for Chief of Polices. City Fire Marshal Josephine Lising discussed the Role and Responsibilities Bureau of Fire Protection. Mr. Alex Caugiran, City Civil Defense officer shared their experience during Mt. Pinatubo catastrophe .
The participants expressed their support to the objectives of Project Listo by affixing their signature into the Pledge of Commitment. After which Mr. Kiko Pangilinan led the launching of book the " Disaster Management – An Informative Guide to Managing and Surviving Disasters" – a DRRM Plan of the City of Angeles to guide their constituents
