Barangay New Kalalake is DILG R3's Regional Showcase Barangay for the second semester of 2015. The assembly was held on October 10, 2015 at the New Kalalake Covered Court, Olongapo City.

Punong Barangay Randy C. Sionzon comprehensively delivered his State of the Barangay Address (SOBA) highlighting their accomplishments for the past six months along areas of livelihood, health, education, sports, peace and order, public works and infrastructure, environment and sanitation, dengue awareness, social welfare, proposed projects and the current financial state of their barangay.

DILG R-3 Director Florida M. Dijan, in her message, expressed her appreciation and lauded the Local and Barangay Officials of New Kalalake for adhering to the Department's mandates and in performing their respective duties and responsibilities making their barangay eligible to be showcased by Region 3. She encouraged the assembly members to actively participate in the issues concerning their barangay and also emphasized that the Department will always be of service to partner LGUs.She concluded her speech by extending DILG Secretary Mel Sarmiento's message to the crowd.

Likewise, the LuponTagapamayapamembers of Brgy. East Bajac-Bajac, Olongapo City headed by their Punong Barangay, Hon. Filipina Tablanwere also present in the activity as they were awarded as the Regional Winner of the 2015 LuponTagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) Highly-Urbanized City Category. This award is a recognition and tribute to Lupons for their committed and dedicated performance in the implementation of KatarungangPambarangay in the grassroots.

Also, gracing the assembly were Hon. Rolen C. Paulino, City Mayor of Olongapo, Hon. RodelCerezo, City Vice-Mayor of Olongapo City, representatives from National Government Agencies local officials, purok leaders, and other assembly members.

Mayor Paulino, in response to the foregoing presentations, praised Barangay New Kalalake for being one of the most peacefuland capable barangays in Olongapo City. He also stressed the importance of working in unity to achieve a common goal.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 260 dated September 30, 2011, all barangays in the country are required to call for a Barangay Assembly at least twice every year and deliver their SOBA to their respective constituents concerning matters provided by Section 397(b) Chapter VI of the Local Government Code: Accomplishments and Financial Report from the past six months and updates on on-going programs and projects.

The Barangay Assembly also serves as a venue or platform for its members to raise issues and concerns affecting the community, as well as for advancing proposals and recommendations to improve the quality of service of the barangay officials.
