To ensure that the Locally Funded Projects in the Province of Zambales are implemented in accordance with the required technical specifications and are constructed in conformance to quality assurance standards, the DILG Zambales Provincial Monitoring Team (DILG-PMT) led by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, conducted a joint on-site inspection with the Provincial Government of Zambales thru the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) for the FY 2020 Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) projects on July 19-22, 2021.

Zambales have been a recipient of this program since 2016 which started as Konkreto at Ayos na LanSAngan and DAan Tungo sa Pangkalahatang Kaunlaran (KALSADA) Program and transitioned to Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) program that aims to improve the poor state of provincial roads and enhance the competency level of the province when it comes to local road management and public financial management.

"Rehabilitation of San Narciso-Grullo-Umaya Provincial Road", "Rehabilitation of Castillejos-Balaybay-Cawag Provincial Road" and "Rehabilitation of Balili-Tambac Provincial Road" are the three (3) projects of the province funded under the FY 2020 CMGP Program with an allocation of Php 35,360,000.00, Php 32,760,000.00 and Php 23,025,467.00 respectively. The road projects have a total length of 6.622 kms. The inspection results show that two out of three CMGP 2020 projects are already completed upon validation of the DILG-PMT.

An exit conference was facilitated by DILG-PMT on July 23, 2021 to culminate the on-site inspections, and to further assist the provincial government on the findings in order to provide recommendations, technical assistance and then enjoin the concerned project contractors to provide commitment timeline to address all findings and concerns regarding the project implementation.

DILG hopes for a continued partnership with the Provincial Government of Zambales towards the success of the CMGP Program implementation. It has long supported the socio-economic development in the province by linking these roads to establishments to further provide better access to basic services.
