The DILG-OC conducted Orientation-Workshop on the Formulation of Barangay Development Plan (BDP) on July 22 at the Barangay Barretto Conference Hall to assist the barangay officials and members of the Barangay Development Council in crafting their three-year plan.

 DILG City Director Amada T. Dumagat commended Punong Barangay Angelito W. Baloy and his barangay officials for regularly organizing and involving different sectoral groups in their planning activities to ensure citizen participation and implementation of programs needed by the community.

"Kung si Kapitan lang ang aasahan natin, sila kagawad ang aasahan natin, baka hindi po lahat ng mga problema ay malalaman, at di po lahat ng mga programa na kailangan ay maibibigay sa ating nasasakupan,"said PB Baloy to the members of his BDC and other participants, on his opening message. "Kaya bawat isa po dito ay kailangang mag-ambag sa activity ngayon."

CD Dumagat presented the Duties and Functions of the Barangay Development Council. Afterwards, she discussed the minimum contents as well as the process of BDP formulation.

LGOO V Vincent E. Catacutan reminded the participants on the Things to Consider in Barangay Development Plan formulation such as the Sustainable Development Goals, pertinent National Laws and Issuances, inclusion of programs that strengthen the different Barangay-Based Institutions, and the mandatory local plans which must be incorporated in the BDP.

After the discussions, the BDC members participated in the Barangay Development Planning Workshop. DILG-OC facilitated the presentation and critiquing of workshop outputs.

Barangay Development Planning serves as a guide in attaining the vision of the barangay. Through the collaboration of all the stakeholders, a deliberate, rational and continuous effort helps to accelerate the process of development in the community.
