The Department of the Interior and Local Government Olongapo City provided reorientation on Contact Tracing for the members of Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) as part of the Contact Tracing E-System Training conducted by the OC Police Office on September 26, 2020 at Camp Lt Gen Manuel F Cabal, Barretto.

DILG City Director Amada T. Dumagat, during her message, commended the BHERTS and other members of the City Contact Tracing Team for selflessly facing the risk of contact tracing. "We know that even there is no added compensation, you (contact tracers) are still willing to give yourself and your time, to help Olongapo City in preventing the spread of COVID-19."

CD Dumagat also informed the participants that the National Government is providing assistance to augment the contact tracing capacity of Local Government Units. "We (the DILG) are currently hiring contact tracers. Our office has already screened 1st batch of applicants. We encourage you to inform your acquaintances who want to apply as contact tracers about the recruitment."

LGOO III Vincent E. Catacutan gave a presentation on Effective Interpersonal Communication Skills for Contact Tracers. He emphasized that contact tracers should also be knowledgeable and skillful in establishing harmonious interaction, especially with COVID-19 patients and contacts, in order to successfully get information, effectively educate about COVID-19 and persuasively ask people to follow isolation and quarantine instructions.

The DILG Olongapo City continuously delivers capacity building, learning interventions and other activities in order to ramp-up contact tracing in Olongapo City.
