Approximately 1,100 barangay officials in Bulacan attended the 1st Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Congress with the theme "Barangay Kabalikat sa Tunay na Pagbabago, Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran" held in Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City on August 28-30, 2019.


The event, led by Hon. Ramilito Capistrano - President of the LnB Bulacan Chapter, aims to primarily update the member-barangays on the latest issuances, directives and current issues affecting the barangays and serve as a forum to ventilate their sentiments/ grievances and further address their issues and concerns.
Gracing the event, DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño discussed the different programs under DILG Barangay affairs and emphasized the responsibilities of the barangays in the Weekly Clean-up Drives for the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Project (MBCRPP), Functionality of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), Implementation of E.O. 70 "Institutionalizing the Whole Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, and Directing the Adoption of National Peace Framework", Bantay Korapsyon and Barangay Journalism. He also mentioned his plans to strengthen the barangays.
Moreover, to further capacitate the barangays in the performance of their duties, DILG Bulacan Provincial Office represented by LGOO VII Lydia Baltazar, LGOO VI Carla Marie Turla, LGOO V Maria Christine De Leon and ADA IV Ma. Fatima Cruz provided technical assistance in the activity and discussed Bantay Korapsyon, Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB), Operation Listo, Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Project (MBCRPP), R.A. No. 9003 or Ecological Solid Waste Management, Federalism and various issues affecting the barangays.
