DILG R3 Prepares Personnel for Earthquake

As the Vice-Chairperson on Preparedness, DILG R3 takes an active role in enhancing disaster preparedness, not only of the LGUs within its jurisdiction, but its own personnel as well. The Regional Office, through the LG Monitoring and Evaluation Division, conducted an orientation on earthquake and its hazards for the regional office personnel.
The activity was conducted during the Office’s Monday Flag Raising Ceremony cum Convocation on March 10, 2014 at the DILG Regional Office Conference Hall, Diosdado Macapagal Government Center, Brgy. Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The orientation dealt on why, how and where do earthquakes occur and what to do to ensure safety during such occurrences.
After the discussion, the employees were given IEC material entitled: How Safe is My House?: Self-check for Earthquake Safety of Concrete Hollow Block (CHB) Houses in the Philippines, which was developed by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP).

DILG R3, under the stewardship of RD Florida M. Dijan, in partnership with DOST-PAGASA, HLURB3, DENR-MGB3 and OCD3, conducted a Seminar-Workshop on the Formulation Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) for Olongapo City and the Twelve (12) Component Cities of the region onDecember 10-12, 2013 at the Oxford Hotel, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. The activity was participated in by City Planning and Development Officers; City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers; City Zoning/Building Officer; City Local Government Operations Officer and the Provincial Health Office and Provincial Agricultural Office of the provinces of Bataan; Bulacan; Nueva Ecija; Pampanga; and Tarlac.

DILG Region III in partnership with the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), facilitates the conduct of Seminar-Workshop on the Development of Local Shelter Plan (LSP) for the LGUs of Bulacan and Pampanga on December 3-9, 2013 at the Royal Hotel, Angeles City. Participants were different department heads from Doña Remedios Trinidad, Calumpit, from Bulacan&Apalit, Arayat, Magalang, Lubao from Pampanga.
DILG Region 3 conducted the 2013 Business Permit and Licensing System (BPLS) Assessment cum Introduction to Regulatory Simplification Project (RSP) on November 28-29, 2013 at Royal Hotel, Angeles City. The activity was participated in by the Region’s City Business Permit and Licensing Officers (BPLOs), DTI and DILG BPLS Provincial Key Personnel.
