Bohol, Philippines – On September 4-7, 2023, the Philippine Councilors League Bulacan Chapter successfully conducted its annual congress in the province of Bohol. The event, themed "Sanggunian in Action Leading Sustainable Development for Inclusive Communities," was a collaborative effort between PCL Bulacan and DILG Bulacan, with the aim of fostering unity and enhancing local legislation in the Province of Bulacan.

The PCL Bulacan Congress 2023 highlighted significant discussions and activities designed to examine and reinforce the roles of councilors in local governance. PD Myrvi Apostol-Fabia, CESO V, also reminded local legislators to ensure the enactment and updating of all the mandated Local Codes under RA 7160, such as Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Comprehensive Development Plan, Gender and Development Code and Revenue Code. Further, she assured local officials that the DILG shall continue to be their active partner to attain accountable, transparent and participative local Sanggunian.


In conclusion, the PCL Bulacan Congress 2023 successfully provided a venue for local legislators to collaborate and share knowledge about legislative processes that would enable them to enact responsive local legislations attuned to the dynamic challenges and opportunities that their constituents are faced with.
