The DILG Bulacan headed by Provincial Director Darwin D. David successfully spearheaded the Manila Bay clean-up drive and tree planting activity earlier today March 11, 2022, in partnership with the various national government agencies (PNP, BFP, DPWH, and DENR) and in collaboration with the Barangay Officials of Brgy. Meyto, Calumpit, Bulacan.

A total of 128 volunteers from Barangay and NGAs extended their helping hand to clean the historical site of Meyto Shrine and the open ground of the Barangay Hall. Aside from this, floating solid wastes that ended up in waterways were collected with the help of the local fishermen. In addition, the stretch of the Barangay’s farm-to-market road was planted with a total of 100 Guyabano seedlings.

The said activity serves as an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign which aims to promote the advocacy program of the Department to clean-up, rehabilitate and preserve the Manila Bay and its tributaries, and to increase people’s awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment.
