The Municipality of Baliwag, Bulacan was hailed as the 2019 National Manila BAYani Awardee for the Municipal Category under the 2019 Manila BAYani Awards and Incentives (MBAI) of the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Program (MBCRPP) during the 2019 MANILA BAYani Awarding Ceremony on October 12, 2020.

Prior to the conduct of the national validation, the Municipality of Baliwag has also received the 2019 Regional Manila BAYani Award- Top Performer under the same category.

The Manila BAYani Awards and Incentives is a program under the MBCRPP which aims to give incentives and encourage local government units (LGUs) to comply with pertinent environmental laws that support the rehabilitation of Manila Bay. Through this, the Department recognizes LGUs who have shown exemplary performance on the implementation of their mandates under various environmental laws and encourages them to be creative in coming up with innovative strategies on environmental management. The assessment covers a total of 178 LGUs in Regions III, IV-A and NCR.

The winners for the Regional and National MBAI were determined based on their level of compliance to the following Outcome Areas of the Manila Bay Program: Liquid Waste Management, Solid Waste Management, Informal Settler Families, Biodiversity Management, and Institutional Arrangements. The Municipality of Baliwag, being the 1st placer of the National MBAI for the Municipal Category, will be awarded with a plaque of recognition and a cash prize worth Php 1,500,000.00 which the LGU may utilize in the implementation of their environment-related projects.

Baliwag and CSJDM hailed as the 2019 Manila BAYani Regional Awardees

The Municipality of Baliwag and City of San Jose Del Monte (CSJDM) were recognized as the recipients of the 2019 Regional Manila BAYani Awards and Incentives (MBAI). Baliwag was awarded with the 1st place for the Municipal Category and CSJDM with the 3rd place in the City Category. The assessment covers 94 LGUs within Region III (Central Luzon).

Both LGUs were awarded with plaques of recognition and cash prizes which they can utilize in the implementation of their environment-related programs and activities. Baliwag and CSJDM were given with cash incentives worth PHP 300,000.00 and PHP 100,000.00, respectively.
