Pursuant to the SK Reform Act of 2015, Sangguniang Kabataan officials must undergo mandatory training to be able to fully perform their duties and responsibilities.

To address the challenge posed by the pandemic in the conduct of this activity, DILG Bataan, in partnership with the SK Municipal Federation of Mariveles, concluded the first Asynchronous Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training (ASKMT) of the province at Mayor San Carlos L. Sarreal Public Library and Learning Hub, San Carlos, Mariveles on April 19, 2021.

This pioneering activity was also in collaboration with Barangay San Carlos, through its barangay Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC).

Said ASKMT was facilitated through the online/distance learning method via Modules 1 to 3 distributed on April 12, 2021. A seven-day period was given to the participants to study the modules and learn important aspects at their own pace.

To ensure that the SK secretaries and treasurers gained adequate knowledge from their one-week self-learning training, a one-hour online assessment was conducted today by the DILG training management team, and supervised by LGOO VI Haidee Balicolon, MLGOO of Mariveles. San Carlos Punong Barangay Jester Ivan Ricafrente and SK Chairperson Jael Petalan also supported the activity.

A certificate of completion will be given to the training participants, and be full-fledged SK officials, after the evaluation of their assessment results and reflection paper.

After the successful implementation today in Mariveles, ASKMTs are expected to be performed in other Bataan LGUs in the succeeding months.
