Having been a recipient of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for the past three years, the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) aims to hurdle this year's DILG national validation, as it vies for a notable feat of getting its fourth consecutive Seal this 2019.

Gov. Albert Garcia led the department heads, key officials and focal persons of PGB's programs and projects in welcoming LGOO VII Maricel Bechayda and LGOO V Meryl Baraquia, the SGLG national validators from DILG Region VI (Western Visayas).

The validation was held at the Provincial Governor's Office on August 23, 2019 through interviews and document review. On-site inspection of structures and facilities in the capitol compound was also conducted.

Cluster Team Leader Yvette Cosio, SGLG Provincial Focal Person Cristy Blanco and LGOO II Joanna Marie Cruz of DILG Bataan were also present to support PG Bataan's national validation.

To be recommended as an SGLG awardee, the provincial government must pass all seven (7) assessment areas namely: Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, Peace and Order, Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Management and Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

The SGLG is the highest recognition and the most prestigious award given by the DILG to excellent and performing LGUs in the delivery of public service through compliance to pertinent national laws and guidelines.

Being a recipient of the Seal, an LGU opens its opportunities to access the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF), as well as to the other programs and capacity development assistance from the DILG.

PG Bataan is an SGLG awardee on years 2016, 2017 and 2018. DILG will announce the 2019 results of the validation this October.
