In support of the government’s thrust for disaster resilience, DILG Bataan participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) led by the Office of Civil Defense and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on June 19, 2025.
NSED aims to educate the public on the importance of earthquake readiness, promote safety protocols, and simulate emergency response operations that can save lives in the event of a major seismic event. The highlight of the drill was the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" procedure — a simple yet life-saving action taught to reduce injury during an earthquake.
The Philippines, situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, remains prone to seismic hazards. Hence, the DILG continues to advocate for sustained capacity-building among local governments, the institutionalization of local DRRM plans, and the establishment of safe evacuation centers.
As part of its “Disiplina Muna” advocacy, the DILG encourages every Filipino to take preparedness seriously.
