As part of its effort to institutionalize regular clean-up activities to LGUs, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office 3, led by Florida M. Dijan and ARD Abraham A. Pascua, joined the City of San Fernando Pampanga in the conduct of the City Wide Clean Up Day on February 01, 2013, 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the DILG Regional Office grounds.

The activity marked the start of the weeklong Celebration of San Fernando’s 12th Cityhood Charter Anniversary.     It is aimed in institutionalizing a regular clean up within the city. This is also in support to one of the 8-point agenda of the City Government which is to promote a clean and green environment.  Likewise, it intends to raise the awareness among the Fernandinos on their commitment to a clean and healthy environment which is part of inculcating proper garbage segregation and collection to the people.  Another objective of the city government is its aspiration that the city wide clean up having the most number of participants could be included in the Guinness Book of World Records.

During the activity, DILG R3 personnel cleared the waterways, roads and vacant spaces along the premises of the Regional Office which are prone to solid waste materials and other unnecessary garbage.

A total of 81 sacks of solid waste categorized as bio-degradable materials were collected in the clean up.
