The Province of Aurora joined the entire nation in raising awareness for an orderly, honest, peaceful and credible mid-term elections this year through a unity walk, interfaith rally and covenant signing held at the Camp Victor Ravina, Brgy. Buhangin, Baler, Aurora.

The Unity Walk commenced at precisely 7 AM at the Aurora Provincial Police Office Grounds, Camp Capt. Victor Ravina and actualized covenant signing at A.V. Mijares Elementary School on February 24, 2022.

Aurora PNP, 91st Infantry Batallion Philippine Army, religious sectors, and COMELEC officials led the unity walk and peace covenant signing for clean, honest, accurate, meaningful, and peaceful elections.

DILG Aurora Program Manager, LGOO VI Mary Joyce T. Bautista, on behalf of Provincial Director, Atty. Ofelio A. Tactac, Jr. CESO V, delivered the message of cooperation for a clean and peaceful 2022 National and Local Elections.

“Nandito nanaman po tayo ngayon sa isang makasaysayan at importanteng pagtitipon na naghahayag ng ating taimtim na dedikasyon na kumilos, makipagtulungan sa lahat ng sangay ng pamahalaan, sa mga miyembro ng mga pribadong organisasyon, NGOs at higit sa lahat ang mga kumunidad upang patuloy na masigurado na ang halalan sa national at lokal ay magiging malinis, tahimik at tapat kung saan ang pulso o desisyon ng nakakarami ay mailalabas at marerespeto. Alam po natin na sa panahon ng election nagkakaroon ng madaming alitan, hindi pagkakaintindihan, gusot at awayan. Ito ay normal lamang sa isang bansa na may democratikong pamamalakad na binibigyan importansya ang karapatan sa malayang pamamahayag. Nakakalungkot pero sadya pong maraming nakakalimot o sadyang hindi iniintindi na ang election at panahon kung saan ang mga importanteng issue sa bansa at plataporma ay pinaguusapan at inihahayag. Marami ang gumagamit ng paninira, fake news, nananamantala sa kahirapan at pagpapalaganap ng kamangmangan upang linlangin ang mga botante o kaya naman binibili o tinatakot sila para makuha ang kanilang boto. Ito ay mga problema na nakaakibat na sa election. Ito ay mga problema na hindi kayang resolbahin ng mga sangay ng gobyerno lamang, ito ay nangangailangan ng tulong ng bawat mamamayan. Andito po tayo upang hingnan ang kooperasyon ng bawat isa upang maipaganap ang isang election na malinis, tahimik at tapat. Naway tulongan tayo ng Maykapal. Mabuhay ang malayang Filipino!”, LGOO VI Bautista said on her message.

Atty. Chris Ian M. Silva, Provincial Election Supervisor, opened the signing peace covenant and integrity pledge.

In the covenant or integrity pledge, candidates committed not to “employ any form of violence, force or threat that may impair, impede or unduly influence the exercise of the people’s right of suffrage”.

They also pledged the “prompt and accurate reporting and disclosure of campaign-related expenses” and “will not give bribes or gifts to corrupt the integrity of our democratic process”.

The said activity was participated by aspirants for the local positions, People’s Organizations, National Government Agencies and other groups.
