The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Aurora joined the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Aurora in the observance of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) 2025 held on September 19, 2025 at Sitio Cemento, Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora.

Joining the activity were Provincial Director Ener P. Cambronero, CDS Chief Gerald Esteves, and ISA I Kenneth Mortel, who actively participated in the cleanup together with community volunteers, partner agencies such as DENR EMB, and community members of Brgy. Zabali headed by Punong Barangay Reynante Mapindan.

This year’s ICC theme, “Clean Seas Against Climate Crisis – Tayo ang Solusyon,” highlights the critical role of communities in addressing climate and environmental challenges.

DILG Aurora through LGOO V Esteves reintroduced “Plogging sa Baybayin,” a Tambuli initiative that combines jogging and coastal cleanup. He also highlighted that this innovative program promotes not only environmental stewardship but also healthy living, showing that sustainability can be part of everyday lifestyle.

The DILG Aurora also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Barangay Zabali for their continued support of the Kalinisan sa Bagong Pilipinas Program. Their steadfast cooperation reflects how strong partnerships between local governments and communities can advance the goals of a cleaner, safer, and more resilient nation.

As the DILG Aurora emphasizes, “A clean and resilient coastline is the foundation of sustainable development. Together, let us prove that when it comes to building climate resilience, we are the solution.”
