Through the collaboration of the respective Local Governance Resource Centers “Tambuli” and “Bantayog” of DILG Aurora and Camarines Norte, the “Kabarangay, Handa Ka Ba? PREPARE Episode 2: A Webinar on LGU and Community Preparedness on Earthquake and Tsunami Hazards” was conducted today, February 23, 2024 via Zoom Meeting Application.

It is part of the series of capacity development program under LGRC Innovation “Preparedness and Resiliency Enhancement: Promoting Accurate Response during Emergency (PREPARE).
The training was participated in by more than 1500 barangay officials and members of Municipal and Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils/Committees all throughout the Province of Aurora and Camarines Norte. To further extend the efficiency of council members, the expertise of the following were tapped:
• MDRRMO Gabriel C. Llave of LGU San Luis, Aurora
• Ms. Charmaine V. Villamil, Geoscience and DRR Communication Specialist of Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS)
• LGOO VI Milrose E. Abilay, MLGOO of Paracale, Camarines Norte
Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III, Regional Director of DILG Central Luzon, also graced the activity and ensure the barangay officials and LDRRMC members that the DILG is their partner in building the capacity of frontliners for disaster preparedness and response. RD Nuyda also challenged all the participants, “Sana lahat ng makukuha natin sa aktibidad na ito na dadaloy mula sa DILG at iba’t ibang ahensya, hanggang sa mga barangay at komunidad… Be a role model to our constituents, nasainyo po ang susi para sa isang ligtas at payapang komunidad.”
On her opening remarks, PD Melody E. Relucio, CESO V, expressed her gratitude to DILG Aurora for initiating this capacity development intervention for barangays and looks forward to more partnerships in the future. She also emphasized that disaster preparedness must emanate from barangays.
Lastly, PD Ener P. Cambronero then applauded the active participation of all in the activity which signifies their dedication and commitment in ensuring a safe and disaster-resilient barangays against the impeding effects of disasters. He also highlighted the mantra in disaster risk reduction and management which is “zero casualty”and added that “sa oras ng kalamidad, mahalaga ang buhay ng bawat isa”.
